Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam Awards 2026

During the first day of the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam, the Independent Hotel Show Awards were presented for the fourth time, followed by the presentation of the first Hotel Influencers 100.

The awards, sponsored by Hotek Hospitality Group, put independent hotels in the spotlight. A professional jury compiled the shortlist, after which the public chose the winners. This is the fourth time the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam Awards have been presented. Hotel Mooirivier in Dalfsen was named the best independent hotel, and Joost van Damme was named Independent Hotelier of the Year. The award for best hotel design went to Merav Bustan Design for her design of hotel VIA Antwerp.

ECO-SEXY DESIGN

This year, the Outstanding Contribution Award went to Marco Lemmers, founder of Conscious Hotels. The award underscores his long-term impact on the sector, in which sustainability and innovation are central. Jury Chairman Sander Allegro: 'He was the first to realize that sustainable didn't have to be hippy-ish, devised a new design language, and launched the term Eco-Sexy.'

HOTEL INFLUENCERS 100

Following this, the first Hotel Influencers 100 was presented, made possible by DOUXE Hotel Luxury. In first place was Martin Hendricks of Black Label Hospitality, who is rapidly opening various hotels in the Netherlands and neighboring countries under different labels. In second place is Camille Oostwegel of the Oostwegel Collection. Third place goes to Myrthe Slotemaker of boutique hotel Morgan & Mees Amsterdam and, more recently, Rotterdam. The list consists of a broad group of professionals from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg: from hotel leaders and entrepreneurs to creatives, strategists, and a new generation of talent. These are not necessarily the most visible names, but rather the people who have demonstrably made an impact over the past year and are helping the sector move forward.

STRIKING NAMES

The Hotel Influencers 100 is emphatically not a ranking, but a snapshot of who matters right now within the hospitality industry. Notable names on the list include Gunay Uslu of Corendon, who recently acquired W Amsterdam, Lennert de Jong, former CEO of citizenM, and Caroline Receveur, General Manager of Maritim Hotel Amsterdam, the hotel that ultimately never opened after years of preparation.
