Thomas van Leeuwen
Thomas van Leeuwen is a Partner and Director at D/DOCK. He studied architecture and real estate development at Delft University of Technology, where he developed a broad perspective on the role of architecture in society.
Thomas focuses on impact architecture, working on concepts and companies that create social value while remaining financially self-sustaining. His work explores how spatial design and entrepreneurship can strengthen communities and contribute to sustainable urban development.
A recent example is Hotels for Locals, a platform that connects hotels with their surrounding neighbourhoods. In the Netherlands, this concept became known as Buurthotel, where hotels function not only as places for visitors to stay, but also as welcoming spaces and amenities for local residents.
